In 2010, Luke L. Thompson graduated with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Washburn University . Luke graduated in the top 20% of his class earning straight A’s throughout the program and induction into Beta Gamma Sigma, an international honor society recognizing business excellence. Much of his project work was focused on the subject of residential and commercial real estate.
In 2003, Luke L. Thompson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas. During college he polished his service and problem solving skills as a grocery store customer service department representative, foreman of a small house painting crew, and restaurant server on the Plaza in Kansas City.
Luke was born and raised in Topeka, KS. Luke attended Sumner Elementary, Shaner Elementary, Jardine Middle School, and Topeka High School. At Topeka High Luke was a member of the varsity baseball and junior varsity basketball teams. As an adult, he has lived for six years in a home he purchased through the TOTO Program (Topeka Opportunity To Own) and personally completely remodeled in the Highland Park area. He currently lives in his second personally rehabilitated home in Rolling Meadows near Shawnee Lake.
In July of 2007, Luke was recruited by Land Kansas Real Estate, and that spurred his decision to return to Washburn University in pursuit of his Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Every day in real estate Luke makes every effort to make the most of the professionalism, document review and preparation experience, tech savvy, and communication skill that he polished in his four years of public service to the State of Kansas. Anyone he has worked with in real estate will readily verify those facts and is forthcoming with good comments even when they are not solicited. In March of 2011, Luke joined Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair (CBGB) after his comparative company analysis leading to his conclusion that CBGB has the most to offer Topeka’s real estate market in innovation and effectiveness.
Luke is active within the Topeka Area Association of Realtors (TAAR). For 2012 he has been nominated and elected by the membership of TAAR to serve a three year term on the TAAR Board of Directors. He also has served as member of TAAR’s Image and Technology Committee for four years. The committee works to maintain and improve Topeka’s multiple listing service (MLS) and Topeka’s primary consumer search engine for residential properties for sale
(www.TopekaAreaHomes.com) . Luke also serves on TAAR’s Government Affairs Committee.
Luke works with three different mortgage companies conducting Broker Price Opinions (BPO). These BPO’s provide him with the opportunity to get paid to practice doing Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) for soon to be foreclosure properties. As a result, Luke’s CMAs for residential property listings are of the highest quality and accuracy.
Luke has also embarked on a path to accumulate residential rental property. The path has so far been fruitful with regard to income and business learnings.
For many reasons, the change in career path and resuming his studies have noticeably served to invigorate his enthusiasm for work and life! It is illustrated best by his many recent successes and steadily increasing sales volume. Past Professional Experience
Beginning in 2003, Luke served in the Office of Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Assistant to the Director of Board Appointments. Each year the Governor makes appointments to fill approximately 200 - 300 expiring positions on state boards and commissions (e.g. Kansas Real Estate Commission) and also agency positions. Luke’s related responsibilities included upgrading and maintaining the database used to track the appointments/expirations, reviewing Kansas statutes governing these appointments, preparing and editing the official appointment documentation for signature by the Governor, and corresponding with appointees about the process. He also conducted outreach to locate interested individuals for these positions. Luke’s other responsibilities included conducting and coordinating interviews and orientations for the Governor’s Intern Program.
In November of 2005, Luke began his work with the Kansas Health Policy Authority (KHPA), the State’s Medicaid agency. The agency has since been dismantled. Luke served as the Manager of Government Affairs (agency lobbyist) for two legislative sessions. Luke worked directly under the Executive Director of the agency. His primary responsibilities for the agency included tracking legislation through the complex legislative process, attending and reporting on daily legislative committee meetings, writing communication to the Legislature in the form of formal testimony, providing information for inquiries made by the Kansas Legislative Research Department and individual State Legislators, and serving specific constituent needs. Luke also created the agency website and held the responsibility of keeping its information current and up to date.
Luke is amazing! I bought my house with him he made the process easy and smooth! And then a few years later when I decided to sell he was definitely the perfect fit for the job. Luke has a laid back type of personality. Put little to no pressure on me to hurry up. Showed several houses in the area. When I finally did decide on a house the process of putting down earnest money and getting a mortgage agent was fast. Greatly helped to negotiate the contract with the seller to seal the deal. Would highly recommend.
I cannot begin to say enough nice things about Luke Thompson! He was very patient with me during my house hunt and never hesitated to schedule a house viewing. Believe me, it took quite a few houses and several months before I finally found the house right for me. Never once did Luke let me down. Luke always responded to my emails, phone calls or text messages. He was always there on time and prepared for each showing. Further, he absolutely went out of his way to make sure all my questions were answered and I truly appreciated the professional advice he provided.

Luke worked with us on selling our home. He constructed a portfolio full of important statistical data i.e. house price points in nearby neighborhoods, potential current market price of our home among other valuable information. He brought portfolio with him to our first meeting. Very professional.

Luke Thompson was excellent through the entire selling process. He was very thorough in his walk through and recommendations better presentation of the home. We felt very confident in his market analysis of our home and sale strategy. He advertised our house well and even had a realtor luncheon there to gain insight from other realtors in the area. He was very patient and approachable during the negotiation process. He was good about offering his advice but also listening to our thoughts and concerns.

He predicted my house would be most appealing to a family who's child was going to attend Washburn University and that is exactly who purchased my house. Luke also connected me with multiple contractors, who were reliable and economical, to help take care of a few odd jobs before listing the house for sale. His knowledge of the housing market is surpassed only by his glorious perm (and I mean that, his perm is superb). Upon learning I had a goal to own a home, Agent Luke Thompson took the time to perform a data analysis of the housing market and provide me with a long-term plan, a whole year before I could attain my home. When the time came to purchase my first home, he was by my side every step of the way -- home showings at my convenience, doing a comparable market analysis for each property for which I expressed interest, recommending and accompanying me to the loan officer meeting, explaining the sellers' contract and home warranty in plain English, being present at the home inspection, and utilizing the latest technology to make the buying experience super convenient. He was extremely knowledgeable and made recommendations based on education and analysis, not guesses. Agent Luke Thompson is an agent I will do business with in the future, and for that reason, I give him 5-stars. If Yelp offered the option, I would give him additional 5-star ratings for his personality and hair.
Luke did a phenomenal job in selling our home. He was responsive, knowledgeable and patient during some very trying times. We could not be more pleased with how everything worked out for everyone and have no hesitations recommending him for anyone's real estate needs.
Moving from Colorado to Kansas was a daunting situation to begin with, but finding a realtor just compounded the stress. Realtors would often not return our inquiries, refuse to travel to areas we wanted to look at, let alone find us a home that worked for us.
That was until we found Luke Thompson. From the first call to him we knew we had found the solution. He made the process very easy and got us into our home. On a trip from Colorado we called him, out of the blue, because our third realtor backed out. He immediately jumped into action and the next day we were looking at houses. He took us all over the area, ultimately finding us the perfect house.
We, however, were unable to stay in Kansas during the process. Luke made this completely simple through his use of electronic signing of documents. It streamlined the process allowing us to get most of everything done from Colorado. Luke assisted me extraordinarily in selling my rental property in late 2009. I contacted him to tell me the value of my house and then sell it. He did the research and we talked about it for a few days. In the course of one of the conversations he mentioned that he might buy it for the right price. That is what we did. We worked out a deal and he took it off my hands. The whole thing was super stress free and fast. This guy has his head on straight, he will look you in the eye, and he is nearly overly knowledgeable about the Topeka real estate market and the process. We are the couple that got to join with Luke in selling his first house. Luke had been through the process from the buyers side but this was his first on the sellers side. You never would have known as Luke was the ultimate professional from the evaluation of our houses value to the final closing. I couldn’t have asked for our deal to go any better as Luke listed and closed on our house within 30 days. This was a huge surprise/relief to us as house values were starting to drop and houses weren’t moving very quickly at that time.
